In Ethiopian agriculture, crops are vulnerable to various risks, causing either yield reduction at the farm or value losses at the market. Some of the risks farmers face are shortage of rain (drought), pests and diseases, floods, excessive temperature, land degradation, transportation problem, price fluctuation, and market problem.
Tilla has created Ethiopia’s first-of-its-kind Agricultural micro-insurance product to enable farmers to mitigate the shocks or smooth their livelihood after risks happen. The product enhances the smallholder farmers’ climate resilience and allows them to invest more in planting crops, farming technologies, and other business tools for enhanced productivity and profitability.
